Q&A

Q: When do I have to charge a LiPo battery?
A: LiPo batteries are highly affected when drained and should not be shot below the recommended minimum voltage. Long story short, if you start with a charged LiPo and use it for a bit and your gun's rate of fire is slowing down and the trigger response getting sluggish, it's time to stop using this one and charge it as soon as possible. LiPos do not like to be drained and once ruined, cannot be restored.

Q: How do I correctly identify LiPo batteries?
A: LiPo batteries will have two plugs coming out of it as opposed to the one you will find on a traditional NiMh battery. On a LiPo battery, one plug is used to power the airsoft gun and one is for charging. You never want to plug the power plug (the Tamiya plug in this case) into a charger by itself, you risk causing the battery to explode from charging incorrectly. Just about all LiPo chargers are considered smart chargers and most will charge off the smaller charge plug, though some fancy chargers may utilize both plugs for charging and balancing. The voltage of the battery is determined by the number of cells. On batteries where the cells are split up, 2 cells is a 7.4v and 3 cells is an 11.1v. On batteries where the cells are packed together, it won't be so obvious but you can look at the charge plug. One wire will be the negative/ground wire, while the other wires will be connected to each cell, so you can look at those wires to determine the cell count.

About the ASG 7.4v 1300mAh Dual-Panel LiPo Battery:

The ASG 7.4v 1300mAh Dual-Panel LiPo (Lithium Polymer) Battery stands out as a high-performance power solution tailored for airsoft enthusiasts who demand efficiency and longevity from their gear. Included in the package is one ASG 7.4v 1300mAh Dual-Panel LiPo Battery, a compact and lightweight power source designed to deliver superior performance without the added wear and tear on airsoft guns typically associated with higher voltage batteries.

To harness the full potential of this LiPo battery, a specialized LiPo battery charger is essential. The usage of a smart charger is highly recommended to prevent overcharging, thereby extending the battery's lifespan and ensuring safety during the charging process. Unlike traditional NiMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride) batteries, LiPo batteries require a more attentive and knowledgeable approach to maintain their efficiency and safety. This is particularly critical as LiPo batteries are more volatile and present a higher fire risk if mishandled or used improperly.

Featuring a 1300mAh capacity and a 2-cell/2S configuration, this battery is engineered to provide a performance comparable to a 9.6v NiMH battery, yet in a more compact and efficient package. It is specifically designed for airsoft applications, where its lightweight and small size offer significant advantages without compromising on power. The technical specifications include a model number of 17206, a Tamiya connector, and a voltage of 11.1v, although its primary operation is at 7.4v for safety and longevity.

LiPo batteries, such as the ASG 7.4v 1300mAh, represent a significant advancement in airsoft technology. Offering more consistent output relative to charge levels, these batteries are a popular choice for their lightweight, compact size, and superior performance characteristics. However, it is crucial for users to understand the responsibilities that come with using a LiPo battery. These batteries are not recommended for beginners due to their maintenance requirements and potential safety risks. Knowledgeable handling and proper charging are imperative to ensure a safe and enjoyable airsoft experience.
