Do I need Gloves to Play Airsoft?

Gloves are a great piece of gear to add to your airsoft loadout.  There are multiple benefits you’ll receive from a good pair of gloves: extra protection from a BB impacting the soft tissue on your hands, warmth during colder months, a better grip on your airsoft gun, and protection from falling or accidently grabbing something when playing in non-sterile environments.  Gloves are available in multiple sizes, styles and colors.  You can get the glove type that works with your style of play and to match your uniform.  Make sure to add this vital piece of equipment to your loadout so you’re ready to play in all seasons and all environments.

When we look at protective gear for airsoft, we often focus on the impact rated goggles as well as the facemask.  Gloves are a great way to add additional protection when playing.  Since many of the places we play are non-sterile, this is very important to protect your hands from small cuts that you can receive while playing.  They work well if playing with an automatic electric gun (AEG), Airsoft Sniper Rifle, or an Airsoft Pistol.

Find a pair that feels comfortable and is not too bulky so that you can still use your equipment effectively.

Q: Will a BB that its you in the hand still hurt if you are wearing a glove?

A: Each person has different tolerances to pain, and it depends on the range and velocity that the BB is shot from. The glove will reduce the amount of impact felt.  Some gloves offer extra padding to further reduce the felt impact.

Q: Can I still pull the trigger on my airsoft rifle while wearing gloves?

A: Yes!  Airsoft tactical gloves are designed to be thinner so that you may still operate your airsoft gun while wearing them

Q: Can I get gloves in black?

A: Yes!  Most gloves come in 3 standard colors: Black, Tan, and Green.  This allows you to match with a variety of different uniform types

Q: Will airsoft gloves keep my hands warm in the winter?

A: They will help.  These glove types are not purposely designed to be thick winter gloves with the sole purpose to warm the hands, but rather to be a functional glove that offers protection.  With the additional layer they provide, they will keep your hands warmer.  If you still require additional warmth, consider inserting a disposable hand warmer in the glove on the back side of you hand.

Q: Do I really need gloves?  Is it ok to just play without them?

A: Many players do not use gloves.  However you do run the risk of having your skin exposed to a direct BB hit.  Since your hands have sensitive tissue, the impact can be very painful.  Also, if you are playing in a non sterile environment, it’s very easy to cut yourself inadvertently, a glove will give you a great layer
