Collection: Holsters

What type of holster should I get?

The holster is one of the essential pieces of gear for your airsoft loadout.  After purchasing your airsoft pistol, this should be the next item that you get.  There are 2 basic types of holsters we use: soft holsters or hard holsters.  Soft sided holster is nice because they tend to be lower profile than a hard sided holster.  One of the advantages of a hard holster is that they are designed to fit specific models of pistols very snug.  Many of them also offer locking mechanisms to ensure they pistol will not in inadvertently leave the holster.  You'll also need to determine where you want to carry it - you have the options of drop-leg, hip, or MOLLE mount.  MOLLE mount holsters are a great option if you want to have access to your airsoft gun on your plate carrier or vest.  Some people prefer this to a hip mount.  Whatever style you like, there is a solution that will work well for you.

Q & A:

Q: I don't see a holster for my gun, could you help me?

A; This is not a unique problem so if you have questions on this, it is best to reach us directly at (888)316-7816. We can help you identify what it is you would need and we also have experience with the quirks of different brands of guns and the unique fitment issues that arise with them in terms of holster selection. You can also e-mail us at sales@foxairsoft.

Q: What materials are holsters made from?

A: Holsters can come in leather, nylon, or polymer/kydex or a combination of materials.

Q: What is a drop-leg holster?

A: A drop-leg holster is a holster that is offset from the waist/belt line and is positioned on the outer thigh. This makes for less obstruction when drawing the pistol due to being offset from the other gear from your belt. Traditional holsters are worn at the hip and though drawing from these is not bad, if you wear vests or other equipment, it may be difficult to draw your pistol.

Q: Can a holster be worn anywhere else?

A: Yes! With the use of adapters you can move the holster anywhere. This depends entirely on the maker of the holster, but a good example is ASG's holsters. Thier holsters are completely modular which means you can add a MOLLE platform, you can make it drop leg, you can have a canted hip holster setup as well.

Q: What is a holster and what is it used for?

A: A holster is a piece of gear that secures your pistol/sidearm and prevents it from getting lost.

Q: How important is it to have a holster?

Unless you like losing pistols in the field, a holster is pretty much essential to pistol users. Holsters may have flaps, snaps, movable thumb shields, and other devices, Pistol retention can also be achieved/enhanced by use of a pistol lanyard.

Q: What holster fits my gun?

A: When looking for a holster first you have to know your gun's maker and model. And since this is airsoft the maker is important due to fitment issues surrounding various brands that make a similar product. You will find most of the common airsoft guns we carry also a matching holster option. If you are having trouble finding a specific holster for you pistol, you could also try a universal holster. Those will hold the pistol but not as securely as a holster designed to fit your gun. That being said though, universal holsters will still have provisions to secure the pistol such as a flap or snap that has to be undone before drawing you pistol.

Q: Universal vs. custom holsters

A: Universal holsters have the advantage of being able to accept many types of pistols with little need for adjustment. This is great for players on a budget who have many types of pistols they want to run. Custom holsters will have a narrower compatibility list but they will secure the pistol much much better.
